The expert will ensure high process reliability, quality, and efficiency in line with stringent battery safety and performance standards.

Main activities :

  • Develop and optimize laser welding and ultrasonic welding parameters for battery components (tabs, electrodes, busbars, terminals)
  • Define welding process windows to ensure joint integrity, mechanical strength, and electrical performance
  • Lead DOE experiments, analyze results, and implement improvements
  • Perform failure analysis on weld defects (spatter, cracks, voids, weak joints) and recommend corrective actions
  • Specify, qualify, and validate welding equipment and tooling in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams
  • Document welding procedures and contribute to xFMEA, control plans, and SOPs
  • Train operators and technicians on process understanding and machine operation
  • Monitor KPIs and SPC data to ensure process stability and yield targets
  • Support commissioning and scale-up activities from pilot to mass production

Prerequisites :

  • Minimum 5 years of industrial experience in laser and/or ultrasonic welding processes, preferably in battery manufacturing, automotive, or electronics assembly
  • Experience with automated welding systems and industrial robotics is a strong plus
  • Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field
  • In-depth knowledge of laser welding (fiber, pulsed, continuous wave) and
  • ultrasonic welding technologies
  • Familiarity with battery tab materials (copper, aluminum, nickel) and their
  • welding characteristics
  • Proficiency in using weld monitoring systems, microscopy, non-destructive
  • testing (NDT), and tensile/shear testing methods
  • Experience with CAD software and data acquisition systems
  • Understanding of heat-affected zone (HAZ) behavior, metallurgical bonding, and
