Fabric8Labs, headquartered in sunny San Diego, CA, is revolutionizing advanced manufacturing with next-generation 3D printing technology. We're looking for a Printer Build and Repair Technician to support the Printer Build team as we scale our patented Electrochemical Additive Manufacturing (ECAM) production at our new site in Carlsbad, CA. This role is for the Carlsbad location, however, onboarding and training for this role will be at our San Diego location from start date until early 2027.
ECAM uses precise, room-temperature metal deposition to unlock geometries and applications that conventional metal AM can't reach. Since announcing our agreement to be acquired by TDK Corporation, we're rapidly expanding our team to advance this disruptive technology across a wide range of electronics components—including data center infrastructure, wireless communications, and power electronics.
As a Repair Technician, you'll be a crucial part of the team, responsible for the repair and upgrade of the ECAM printer..

Primary Responsibilities
- Perform electro-mechanical repair and upgrades of ECAM printer systems and related equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, fluid, pneumatic and motion control system issues.
- Diagnose failures finding root causes and proposing solutions to processes and design improvements.
- Conduct mechanical alignment, calibration and fit checks to ensure system integrity.
- Document repair, upgrade and equipment issues.
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing.
- Conduct mechanical alignment, calibration and fit checks to ensure system integrity.
- Perform quality self-checks.
- Follow all safety procedures, including LOTO, chemical handling and PPE requirements
- Keep repair area clean and organized.
- Dependable, punctual.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience in troubleshooting: motors, encoders, cabling, electronics and SW/FW inside of industrial machines.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, torque tools and mechanical measurement instruments (calipers, height gauge etc.).
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Able to use DVM for continuity checks and testing.
- Ability to follow written instructions, travellers/routers and interpret assembly drawings/wiring diagrams.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal oversight.
- Learn new processes and techniques quickly.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to multi task and pivot frequently.
- Ability to handle interruptions.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Electrical systems testing/troubleshooting.
- Experience with pumps, valves, motors, sensors, instrumentation.
- Knowledge of power supplies and data connections.
- Plumbing systems. Bonding PVC.
- Basic soldering experience.
- Understanding of Lean principles.

- Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to type, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Routinely required to move around the facility.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Able to work overtime with short notice.
- May require travel (domestic and/or international) dependent on business needs, up to 10%
- Specific vision abilities that may be required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
