Fabric8Labs, headquartered in sunny San Diego, CA, is revolutionizing advanced manufacturing with next-generation 3D printing technology. We're looking for a Manufacturing Technician to support the Printer Build team as we scale our patented Electrochemical Additive Manufacturing (ECAM) production at our new site in Carlsbad, CA. This role is for the Carlsbad location, however, onboarding and training for this role will be at our San Diego location from start date until early 2027.

ECAM uses precise, room-temperature metal deposition to unlock geometries and applications that conventional metal AM can't reach. Since announcing our agreement to be acquired by TDK Corporation, we're rapidly expanding our team to advance this disruptive technology across a wide range of electronics components—including data center infrastructure, wireless communications, and power electronics.

As a Manufacturing Technician, you'll be a crucial part of the team, responsible for the assembly, calibration and/or test of the ECAM printer..

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly of 3D printer systems.
  • Assemble machined parts, frames and fluid systems using hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, jigs, fixtures.
  • Route and terminate wiring harnesses, connectors and PCA assemblies.
  • Perform bonding of PVC plumbing systems..
  • Conduct mechanical alignment, calibration and fit checks to ensure system integrity.
  • Troubleshoot electro-mechanical issues, identify root causes and relay to supervisor/engineering.
  • Perform quality self checks/inspections on assemblies (torque specs, alignments, fit)
  • Follow all mechanical and electrical safety protocols. Ensure proper use of PPE for task(s) assigned.
  • Ensure production area is clean and organized (5S).

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with precision assembly and mechanical/electrical systems. Plumbing systems a plus.
  • Experience with box builds that include wiring, routing, alignments and fit checks.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, torque tools and mechanical measurement instruments (calipers, height gauge etc.)
  • Basic wire harness build.
  • Ability to follow assembly Instructions, travellers/routers and interpret assembly drawings/wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to use volt-meter for continuity checks and testing.
  • Experience in high tech. low to mid level production environments
  • Electrical safety rules/concepts.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions/priorities.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Electrical systems testing/troubleshooting..
  • Knowledge of power supplies and data connections.
  • Plumbing systems. Bonding PVC
  • Basic soldering experience.
  • Understanding of Lean principles.

  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to type, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Routinely required to move around the facility.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Able to work overtime with short notice.
  • Specific vision abilities that may be required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
