Job description
Fabric8Labs, headquartered in sunny San Diego, CA, is revolutionizing metal additive manufacturing with advanced 3D printing technologies. We’re looking for skilled Electrical Engineers to join our team.
Fabric8Labs is focused on accelerating metal additive manufacturing adoption and enabling new applications with our patented Electrochemical Additive Manufacturing (ECAM) processes. Since closing our Series B funding round, we are rapidly expanding our team to advance and commercialize our disruptive technology.
As a Junior Electrical Engineer, you'll be a crucial part of the team! You'll be working in a fast-paced environment, and will be required to quickly design, test, validate designs, and deploy designs. You should be comfortable learning new systems quickly and testing multiple designs to validate the pros and cons of each.
If you are excited about the opportunity to change the future of manufacturing in collaboration with our growing team, then come join us! Backed by industry-leading partners, including Mark Cuban, Intel Capital, TDK Ventures, Stanley Black and Decker, and NEA: Fabric8Labs is at the forefront of advanced manufacturing, and we are excited to bring in diverse minds and perspectives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of analog circuits, sensor interfaces, and signal processing systems for a variety of applications.
- Design, simulate, and prototype hardware solutions for sensor-based systems, including but not limited to temperature, pressure, force, chemical, and optical sensors.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of analog hardware and sensors into larger systems and production floor environments with multiple machines.
- Execution and management of the complete sensor development lifecycle, from initial concept through to production.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers in circuit design, troubleshooting, and testing.
- Develop and review detailed design documentation, including schematics, PCB layouts, and test plans.
- Lead the selection of components, and work with suppliers to evaluate new sensor technologies and integrate them into designs.
- Perform rigorous testing and debugging to ensure reliability and performance of analog and sensor systems.
- Drive continuous improvement of design processes and maintain best practices for analog and sensor hardware design.
- Work with the manufacturing team to ensure the proper transition of designs to production, including overseeing testing and validation processes.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in analog circuits and sensor technology.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in designing and developing analog circuits, sensor interfaces, and related hardware systems.
- Strong understanding of analog circuit design principles, including signal conditioning, amplification, filtering, and sensor integration.
- Experience with sensor technologies (e.g., temperature, pressure, accelerometer, etc.) and their integration into embedded systems.
- Proficient with simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, Matlab, PSpice, etc.) and PCB design software (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, Eagle, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, and spectrum analyzers.
- Proven experience in leading design efforts and mentoring junior engineers.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with low-power designs, wireless communication, or IoT systems is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in designing systems for harsh environments (e.g., production floor, chemical resistance) and high volume production.
- Familiarity with embedded systems development and software-hardware integration.
- Experience with software development tools and languages such as Python, C, SQL.
