Full job description
Fabric8Labs, headquartered in sunny San Diego, CA, is revolutionizing metal additive manufacturing with advanced 3D printing technologies. We’re looking for a highly skilled Project Manager, New Product Introduction (NPI) to join our team and lead the transition of our disruptive technology from design and engineering to commercial production.
Fabric8Labs is focused on accelerating metal additive manufacturing adoption and enabling new applications with our patented Electrochemical Additive Manufacturing (ECAM) processes. Since closing our Series B funding round, we are rapidly expanding our team to advance and commercialize products enabled by our novel technology.
As a Project Manager, NPI, you will:
- Drive new product development and introduction projects from initial concept through design, production ramp, and successful commercial launch.
- Lead and manage cross-functional NPI teams, facilitating collaboration between Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to ensure products are designed for manufacturability (DFM).
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules and resource plans specific to the NPI process and critical phase-gate reviews.
- Communicate project status, manufacturing readiness levels, risks, and updates to stakeholders, highlighting critical path items for production scale-up.
- Identify and resolve technical and operational issues and challenges related to manufacturing scale-up, developing effective risk mitigation strategies for smooth mass production.
- Develop and implement standardized NPI processes, procedures, and documentation (e.g., build plans, run-rates, quality checks) to improve project efficiency and repeatability.
- Work in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment in which you are required to establish clarity and drive decisions that push the project forward toward manufacturing readiness.
If you are excited about the opportunity to change the future of manufacturing in collaboration with our growing team, then come join us! Backed by industry-leading partners, including Mark Cuban, Intel Capital, TDK Ventures, Stanley Black and Decker, and NEA: Fabric8Labs is at the forefront of advanced manufacturing, and we are excited to bring in diverse minds and perspectives.
Primary Responsibilities
- The Project Manager, NPI (PM-NPI) will be responsible for driving multiple internal development projects and customer programs through the formal New Product Introduction process, ensuring alignment with product, manufacturing, and operational goals. The PM-NPI will be accountable for the ultimate success and on-time, on-budget delivery of their projects.
- You will develop and maintain NPI project schedules and resource plans; communicate project status, risks, and updates to stakeholders, with an emphasis on production readiness and quality gates.
- You will be responsible for tracking and driving all NPI activities, including prototype builds, pilot runs, and supplier readiness; providing forward-looking visibility into key upcoming phase-gate reviews and manufacturing milestones, and effectively managing complex risks to achieve the final production objectives.
- You will develop and execute effective launch plans and risk mitigation strategies; and align key NPI activities with overarching strategic and operational objectives.
- You will work effectively across multiple functions, including R&D, Engineering, and Manufacturing, with senior engineers and technical staff.
- You will develop and implement processes and procedures to improve project, NPI, and operational efficiency.

- Strong organizational skills while also being able to operate in an ambiguous startup environment.
