Title: Digital Building Commissioning Engineer
Locations (Remote): USA, Europe, Philippines, India
Job Purpose
The Digital Building Commissioning Engineer (DBQE) will work closely with our deployment teams to deliver high quality HVAC Fault Detection and Diagnostics to customers. This role requires mastering the Clockwork’s information model to ensure it is applied correctly to buildings and equipment from around the world. This role serves as the subject matter expert to understand customer’s control system sequence of operations and verify they are accurately modeled within the analytics. Using your mastery of the information model, you will also support the team by reviewing control sequences and advising the DBEs how to configure complex systems. The DBQE will review the analytics results for accuracy and work with the deployment team to make any necessary corrections before it is turned over to the customer.
Responsibilities:
- Review analytics results (graphs, result notes, energy savings, etc.) in detail for accuracy before they are delivered to the customer
- Identify configuration issues, communicate the root cause, possible solutions, and work with the deployment team to remedy them
- Escalate questions and/or clarifications to deployment team as required
- Support the deployment team by reviewing customer control sequences and prescribing how they should be handled within the information model
- Use Jira to track QA progress of assigned deployments before customer “go-live”
- Contribute to Lean initiatives to continuously improve the efficiency of the QA process.
- Provide technical training and mentoring to the team to improve overall team quality
- Work closely with the deployment teams to stay up to date on software revisions and training required to perform information model updates.
Candidate Qualifications:
Must have:
- B.S. in Engineering and/or significant HVAC, smart buildings, controls and facilities experience
- 4-6 years of direct experience working to commission commercial building control systems
- Ability to read and understand sequence of operations documentation to interpret intended HVAC system operations
- Extensive experience using Microsoft Excel
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Superior problem-solving abilities
- Skill in communicating technical details, either directly or via email, chat, service tickets, etc.
- Ability to quickly learn and master complex information models
- Skill in managing time and ability to communicate quickly when schedule is slipping
- Desire to be a key part of a team and enjoy teaching others
Nice to have:
- Experience using HVAC analytics software such as SkySpark, or similar, to review BAS performance and identify deviations from sequence
- Experience as a lead commissioning agent for higher level HVAC systems in higher ed, healthcare and/or life sciences
- Familiarity with issue tracking software such as Jira Service Desk and Fresh Desk
- Confidence, self-motivation, and comfort adapting to new technologies
